02/16/2012 - Los Angeles, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Blake Griffin had 23 points and 15 rebounds and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Washington Wizards for the seventh time in a row, 102-84, on Wednesday night.
Caron Butler added 21 points and Chris Paul scored 16 with nine assists in the win, including an alley-oop pass to DeAndre Jordan for a one-handed dunk that punctuated LA's ninth victory in 12 games overall.
John Wall had 18 points and 12 assists to lead Washington while JaVale McGee also scored 18, but the Wizards had a two-game winning streak snapped -- their first of the season.
Washington was trying to win three in a row for the first time since April 1-5 last season, but shot under 40 percent and trailed by as many as 20 points.
It was a lot closer early on, and LA needed to pull away in the fourth quarter for the win.
The Clippers clung to a 23-20 lead after the first quarter and a 50-47 edge at halftime despite playing a Wizards team in the midst of a five-game road trip.
"We didn't play well at the start and they did," said Paul. "We need to come out with more energy and that starts with me."
Griffin had two dunks to spark and 8-0 run at the end of the third quarter, including an alley-oop from Paul. The burst snapped a tie and gave LA a 74-66 lead going into the fourth.
The Wizards scored six of the first seven points in the final quarter, capped by a Wall jumper that drew them within three.
"Then, we couldn't hit a shot," said Wizards coach Randy Wittman. "This wasn't an 18-point game, we just ran out of gas."
Clippers guard Randy Foye scored all 10 of his points during a 13-4 run that put the game away, including a pair of three-pointers. It gave LA an 88-76 lead with under seven minutes remaining and it was never closer than nine the rest of the way.
"We knew they won two in a row and it was going to be a tough game," said Foye. "We had to come out and play as hard as we could."

The Wizards fell to 3-11 on the road this season...LA was coming off a 4-2 road trip and plays at Portland on Thursday night...The Clippers shot 42.2 percent and Washington shot 39.5 percent.

Chicago, IL - New Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler and star linebacker Brian Urlacher shot down reports of a rift, saying they're simply not true.
"There's nothing between us," Cutler said Thursday, when he reported to training camp. "I just want to put that to rest. There never has been anything between us."
Urlacher added: "I never said what I was quoted as saying and that's it. I have a lot of respect for Jay. I think Jay knows that."
Former Bears receiver Bobby Wade caused a stir when he told Minneapolis radio station KFAN-AM that Urlacher used a profanity while questioning Cutler's manhood during a conversation in Las Vegas last weekend. Wade, who now plays for the Vikings, said Urlacher used a profane version of the word "wimp" during the interview that had to be edited out.

"I wouldn't go face-to-face with Brian, anyway," Cutler said. "No, that's never happened. I've hung out with Brian away from the facility numerous times and we've always gotten along."
Urlacher, noting he was limited by a groin injury, denied the reports in an interview with the Chicago Tribune and did it again when he reported to camp.
"I didn't practice this summer, so I don't know how I would fight the guy if I didn't practice," Urlacher said. "We have no problems. I'm excited about football starting. I'm excited to have him as our quarterback."
Why would Wade say that?
"I don't know," Urlacher said. "Maybe he's jealous because we have a good quarterback now."
Cutler said the first he heard of any friction was when he got a call from Urlacher to clear the air. Urlacher, however, said he had already taken several calls from teammates wondering if the reports were true when Cutler phoned.
"He called me and I said, What's up (expletive), what are you doing?'" a grinning Urlacher said, uttering the same word he allegedly used with Wade. "It's so dumb to me that this even got to this point, but it did and then here we are."

In some ways, Cutler is getting a second chance in Chicago, an opportunity to repair his reputation.
Smith said another quarterback - Michael Vick - deserves one, although he doesn't see it happening with the Bears, who lack an experienced backup. The former Atlanta Falcons star, who served a 23-month sentence for running a dogfighting ring, said Thursday he is getting close to signing with a pro football team.
"A second chance, like everyone in society who has paid their debt to society," Smith said. "He deserves a second chance. As far as we're concerned, we like this team that we have right now."
Particularly the new quarterback.
"Me and Brian have been on a good relationship since I've been here, and I expect it to continue that way," Cutler said.

Pittsburgh earned their passage to the big game by beating their division rival, the Baltimore Ravens, 23-14 in yesterday's AFC Championship Game. Arizona charged out of the gates and built a 24-6 halftime lead that had the Eagles venerable defense reeling. Quarterback Kurt Warner and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald did most of the damage, connecting on three first half touchdowns.
Arizona, however, could not sustain their momentum and the Eagles took a 25-24 with 10:45 left to play in the fourth. The Cardinals, with the franchise's first Super Bowl appearance hanging in the balance, mounted a fourteen play, 72 yard touchdown drive that consumed 7:52 off the clock. Warner hit running back Tim Hightower on a short screen for the go-ahead, game clinching score that will forever live in Cardinal infamy.
